Testimonials from Our Customers

Around 3 years ago today I began taking private classical guitar lessons from Mr. Music. Little did I know that that would become one of the best decisions I've made. My instructor Tony was a truly excellent teacher, and brought my playing to a level that I never could have imagined in such a short time. His caring, encouraging personality facilitated a tremendous level of musical growth. The owner and staff are exceedingly helpful and friendly. I would often spend hours in the store before and after my lessons simply because of the wonderful atmosphere it provided. I can not think of a better place in the Fort Myers area to buy or learn a musical instrument. I only wish I would have begun sooner!

I am currently a classical guitar performance major at the University of Miami, thanks, in large part, to the excellent instruction I received.

Hello, I have been meaning to do this for quite some time now.  The experience that I had at your store was one of the best I have had in a very long time.  I had about given up on “good” customer service.  Not only did you have the instrument that my daughter needed to rent but we received a brand new one.  I am so glad that I called and stopped by on my way home.

Thanks again for everything!

I just wanted to write a testimonial for Mr. Music and the guitar lessons that I have been enjoying there. My wife got me the lessons as a Father's Day gift. I was a bit nervous to start guitar lessons at my age, but I am so glad that I went through with it!

My teacher is Dennis, and I have learned so much during the first month. I look forward to my lesson each week now, and I hope that I can continue to take lessons for a long time to come. Dennis was nice enough to change his schedule around in order to be able to give my 12 year old son bass lessons. I can't wait for that to start next week!

Bravo, Mr. Music! Thanks for opening up a new world for me. I am having a great time with it!

Sincerely,
Dave Kellum

My name is Danillo Mehl Czelusniak, 23 years old, from Brazil. When I moved to Fort Myers I was looking for guitar classes that attended my needs. I email several places and when David called me back I was sure that I wanted to do my classes there.
The classes were amazing. Frank taught me a lot and all my needs were attended. He is a nice guy, full of energy and he really knows how to teach and make the class great.

Thanks guys for the nice moment I had with you. I can say that more than class, I made friends. And that is the most important thing to me.

One of Our Rising Stars!

Last September I went to Mr. Music to see about purchasing a harp, a dream of longstanding. Many years earlier I had seen one at Mr. Music's previous location when my husband and I purchased a guitar. Mr. Magnante, the owner, told me he could get one from a harp maker friend with no obligation for me to purchase it. I returned and there was a beautiful harp in the Paraguayan style, which I purchased. It has rich and beautiful tones. Mr. Magnante recently honored his one year warranty on it when it needed a repair. The harp maker also made improvements on it, to my great delight!

Mr. Music is the place to go for warm, friendly advice and personal service for all music needs. It is always such a delight to go there and I have complete confidence that I will find the help that I need from the talented and knowledgeable professionals there.

Nancy A., Fort Myers, FL

David Magante, Mr. Music himself, a talented and sensitive business man, "well tuned" into the unique traits of the musically inclined individual. What a blessing!

The Mr. Music store always has a welcoming atmosphere; so inviting to those wanting to explore the wonderful world of music and the varied instruments that could make their dreams come true.

David Magnante, recognized as an accomplished and professional accordionist, is there to greet you personally. A music store with personality. I've played the accordion for over 70 years and it's great to enter an environment where this beautiful instrument is appreciated and not treated like a zither or harpsichord.

Sincerely,
Peter Bercik, Director, Elder Care Music of Florida

P.S. Parents looking to introduce their children into music will be happy to visit a store with a warm and inviting learning environment.

I have been doing business with Mr. Music for many years. I have purchased several guitars both acoustic and electric as well numerous musical items in the store and used them for a repair on a guitar I damaged. I even bought a guitar from Dave’s dad many, many years ago. I have come to personally know the owner of Mr. Music (David Magnate) from my years of doing business with him. Each time I have purchased something or just stopped in for advice, Dave and his staff have always been happy to meet my needs or just answer questions I had at the time. I have always received that personal service that is all too often missing with the big chain store employees.

I think Mr. Music has a great inventory and on occasion when they did not have what I wanted, they were all too happy to order it for me. I have been so impressed with them that I now have my grandson going there for his guitar lessons and he loves it! Certainly seems like he is learning music and he loves his instructor. I don’t know about you, but I personally like doing business with locally owned stores of any kind: you know, the stores where you feel like your business really is important and you are not just another customer who’s business doesn’t matter to them. I highly recommend you visit Mr. Music for your next musical purchase. It certainly seems to be a family friendly store and I know you will not be disappointed.

John Millican - Fort Myers

I found Mr. Music taking pride in offering a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, while maintaining a very large level of professionalism. They have provided my family and me with excellent service and have extended every possible courtesy.

Hello my name is Jo. My first time going into the Mr. Music store was a rather delightful experience. the owner was very helpful and full of knowledge and humor. The owner provided friendly, and helpful service which makes me want to come by the store even if it is just to visit.

p.s. They carry almost any type of instrument you can think of. :)  -  Love you guys!

After years of procrastination, I finally motivated and began guitar lessons at Mr. Music during 2010. Now I am playing at every opportunity and look forward to my weekly "jam" sessions with instructor Jim Shinn. Dave (Mr. Music) and the people that work with him are friendly, relaxed, and encouraging. If you've entertained the idea of learning a new instrument or improving existing skills, I recommend Mr. Music as a great place to do so.

I have been taking guitar and drum lessons at Mr. Music since I have moved to the Fort Myers area. My lessons at Mr. Music have increased my skill level significantly. My instructors are great at their instruments, and genuinely take pride in the progress of their students. The atmosphere is extremely friendly, and welcoming to students at any skill level. The best part of the lessons here - they are fun! I always look forward to coming here each week.

I highly recommend Mr. Music if you want to start playing an instrument, or want to improve on one that you already play.

Chris K.

I had my first accordion lesson this morning and had a most remarkable experience.
Coming to your store is like stepping back 60 years to the store in Pennsylvania
where I took piano lessons for many years as a child. Thank you for being here
and maintaining such a wonderful place in these busy times.

As a retired airline captain for a major airline, I don’t look forward to the weekends any more. I look forward to Tuesday and my accordion lessons at Mr. Music in Fort Myers, Florida. I have a ball trying to conquer ………… (play) the accordion.

I was on a trip to Tampa just before I retired, and mentioned to a colleague that one of the things I always wanted to do was study the accordion. During the conversation I learned of David Magnante and his Mr. Music business.

As soon as I was home, I called Mr. Music and made an appointment to “check it out.” I found the Mother-Load of music knowledge! Not only was David from the world famous Magnante accordion dynasty. but he would personally be my instructor.

David Magnante runs a state of the art business with multi-talented educators and employees. The Mr. Music atmosphere lends itself to fun. In the year I’ve been taking lessons, I’ve never seen a dissatisfied customer or a disgruntle employee. From accordion to xylophone, he (and his store) has it all!

When the musical plans I had been working on for my parent's 70th Wedding Anniversary did not materialize, I was desperate. I went to 'Mr. Music" hoping they could help me find a person who would sing and play the piano to entertain at the event I was planning that was now less than a week away!!. David went above and beyond. He didn't just give me names and wish me luck. He offered to contact some musicians he was familiar with to see if they were available.

David promised to call me by the next day, no later than noon to tell me if he was able to get an available musician. The next day, as promised, he called with great news.He had made contact with a musician he was familiar with, Dan, and arranged for him to entertain. Dan was terrific, everyone there enjoyed his music, he played my parent's special tune and brought back many nostalgic memories for everyone. Thank you again, David, for going above and beyond for a perfect stranger to your store !!

As a customer and former employee of Mr. Music, I can say that they have exceptional customer service to meet many needs. There is a wide range of musical inventory to choose from: various acoustic or electric guitar brands, accordions, band/string instruments (for purchase or rent), instrumental method books of all kinds, and accessories for all instruments.
When you walk into Mr. Music, you will notice the family-friendly “old-time” music store atmosphere. Whether it be for shopping or for music lessons, your experience will be a pleasant one, as you will be served with excellence.

From Robert Aleksun

When my daughter decided she wanted to play the Clarinet in the Estero High School Band, I needed to find an instrument for her.   The Bandmaster gave me a short list of recommended instrument sources.   After making preliminary phone calls, I went to Mr. Music.   Well, I never had to go another  place.   The fellow at the Mr. Music store patiently explained the instrument choices to my daughter and I.  He was knowledgeable and friendly, answered all of our questions, and put me completely at ease.  We bought the clarinet from this fellow, who turned out to be Dave, the owner.

During the years my Daughter was in the high school band, we returned to Mr. Music to buy clarinet reeds etc.  I never regretted the purchase.

Finally she graduated and moved on to attend.FGCU.   She did not join the band at FGCU, but decided she wanted to play guitar.  So, we went back to Dave and ended up buying her first guitar, an acoustic guitar.  Another choice we did not regret. She also wanted to take lessons and we were able to make lesson arrangements through Dave on the day we bought the guitar.   When my darling girl managed to "break" her guitar, I found out that Mr. Music could handle the repairs.  The guitar was returned as good as new, and at a price that other people told me was  very good.

I do not feel that reasonable prices are the primary reason I keep returning to Mr. Music.  Rather, the professional, knowledgeable, caring level of service is something that can not be duplicated in any  chain store.
If you have Music needs, I give you Mr. Music.

Peter - St. James City

My son, age six, and daughter, age eight, have been taking lessons with Mr. Randy (guitar) and Ms. Inna (piano) for over a year now, and I couldn't be more pleased. Both instructors teach with the perfect balance of patience and expectation. Their effectiveness as instructors has shown in the amazing amount of progress they've made this past year. I know they will keep them on the path to great musical achievement.
Luellen Cintron

I am taking piano lessons for about 1 year and found it to be the most enjoyable experience. Inna has a very personal way of giving piano lessons.

Thank you,
George K.

Anita Munoz writes, "Mr. Music is a store that I really recommend you check out. Not only do they sell about every instrument known, but they are a caring and family oriented store. We have had the pleasure of  visiting them. My son Santiago takes Piano classes there, with one of the best music teachers . He always looks forward to the classes . They make it fun and exciting. The only thing I do regret is not knowing of the store sooner."

From M. L. Erman: "Over the years I watched Mr. Music grow, from the first store till now... As a resident of Fort Myers, I am very happy to see they are still open and serving our community with the same mission as started by the original "Mr. Music",..the one and only "Mickey Magnante".

I remember taking lessons as a child with Mickey and going to his "band recitals", and playing with his other students in front of the court house at Christmas, playing at the Edison Mall, and performing at his yearly concerts which people came all over for as he would always have "Charlie Magnante" as his special guest and other performers local and nationally known. From accordionists to rock n roll bands, he did it all ! He encouraged and gave music in any form.

The thing I remember most was Mickey always having candy for us...always laughing, joking and giving. I would walk to his store after school till my Mom could pick me up and he would always tell stories and give free things to help my Mom out financially. He adopted many children here "musically-speaking"...from "Carters Ranch orphans", to migrant children in Immokalee. I remember a black woman named, "Ethel Manning". Mickey took on all her children she took into her home and assisted them to learn a musical instrument. He also, used to teach the choir at St. Francis School and church.
His version of "Let there be peace on earth" would bring tears to your eyes.

In the 70's, the "Hippies" used to hang around outside the store and play guitars, Mickey always welcomed them...not a usual thing back then. He had a sign that said "If music turns you on, then turn in here". He brought kids together to form rock n roll bands and would find them jobs at area restaurants, where they would pass the hat around to pay the kids a little earning money.

Mr. Music brought music to Fort Myers before there was any...a family run business from then till now. You could go in to the store at anytime, and see one of his children or his brother at the counter at all times everyone working together.
Today, Mr. Music has grown to be a well rounded still family run business. They are personable, and know everyone "by name". I now bring my own two children to

Mr. Music for guitar and voice lessons. They look forward to going, and even when they have to wait in the store...they are never bored. They will pick up a guitar or a music book and just play while waiting, frequently seeing some of there friends there. They are encouraged and the store is welcoming to them.
I am happy to see Mr Music is till an influence in our community with the same concept as the original owner, Dave's father, the original "Mr. Music", "Mickey"

In today's world, it is things like "music" that soothe the soul and bring something to our lives in the simplest form. Thank you Mr. Music for the many years and solid memories you have given to me and my family and Fort Myers all these years. It is "Time Well Spent", another saying Mickey would say about practicing and studying our music.

Keep on playing, and I will always wish you much success as you have given the many children and people of our community through the years !
